Drivers in Kasoa, Weija and Gbawe have bemoaned the emergence of Yango’s cargo delivery services, they said it has led to the low patronage of hiring vehicles like Kia and trucks in the logistics industry.
In an interview with Mr Fuseini Abass, a cargo driver at the Mallam-gbawe station told The High Street Journal (THSJ), that drivers were being forced to sell their cars and go for mini buses for public transport due to low patronage in the logistics service.
He said initially when Yango was not rendering cargo services, he could record a sale of GH¢2,000 within a week, but now he only makes up to GH¢600. “I can’t complain or do anything about the Yango service so I have to hope and pray that my old clients call me for service”, he added.
Nii Adjei, a cargo operator also told THSJ that, in as mush as the Yango delivery service is good it has made the logistics sector look vulnerable as the average driver who has little knowledge in technology would be left behind. This, he said is a challenge and factor which must be addressed by the delivery companies.
He called on managements of Yango to ensure swift action to ensure that the service is simplified, educate drivers and also ensure all drivers are hooked on the app.
Nonetheless, many drivers lamented the low patronage of cargo delivery services as many depended on it to fend for their families.
A customer who was buying a furniture at Lapaz, told THSJ that, the Yango cargo delivery service is good and affordable, she explained that you do not have to negotiate or worry about good services. “Where ever I am I can still get my items delivered without stress so I will always go for that”, she said.
Also, some market women also attested that they preferred the old traditional way of delivering service rather than the Yango cargo delivery services because they transported goods from long distance with moderate prices, and they are reliable in terms of odd hours.
By offering services like the “Express Cargo” class, Yango provides transparent pricing and efficient logistics solutions setting new standards in the industry.
Yango’s platform provides flexible earning potential, allowing couriers to earn up to GH¢2,200 per month, with the freedom to choose their working hours and vehicle types, including cars, motorbikes, or cargo vans.
