During a community engagement at the Mempeasem Chief’s Palace in Ayawaso West Wuogon, Dr. Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, promised a massive reduction in the cost of electricity if elected. He particularly pledged to slash electricity costs by 60% by prioritizing solar energy in Ghana’s power generation mix.
Speaking to a captivated audience, the Vice President announced his ambitious plan to manufacture and export solar panels, which he believes will not only reduce electricity costs but also boost the nation’s economy. He assured the people that his administration would harness solar energy to create a sustainable energy future for the country.
“Solar power is our ticket to affordable electricity and economic growth,” he declared, emphasizing the need for Ghana to tap into its abundant sunlight for energy generation.

As part of his detailed energy policy, Dr. Bawumia outlined his commitment to generating an additional 2,000 megawatts of solar power within the first four years of his administration. According to him, this massive increase in solar capacity will be a game-changer for Ghana, helping to stabilize the energy supply and notably lower costs for households and businesses alike.
He also shared his vision of Ghana becoming a key player in the solar energy sector through the export of solar panels. This move, he believes, will create jobs and establish Ghana as a hub for renewable energy in the region.
“We have the resources and talent to lead Africa in solar technology, and my government will ensure that happens,” he confidently asserted.
The people gathered responded enthusiastically to his promises, seeing them as a source of inspiration in addressing the high cost of electricity, which has burdened many Ghanaian households.
Dr. Bawumia reassured the crowd that he is dedicated to making this vision a reality, urging them to support his campaign for a brighter, more affordable energy future.
