Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday, December 3, commissioned six newly installed electronic gates (E-Gates) at the Kotoka International Airport to enhance processing time of passengers’ traveling documents and credentials.
The E-Gates are installed at the arrival section of the airport, eliminating the need for travelers to undergo immigration checks upon arrival.
Dr Bawumia said with the use of the Ghana card as the key entry document, individuals can seamlessly navigate through the E-Gates, facilitating a swift and hassle-free entry process into the country.

“When you have Ghana card and you come, you will not need immigration. You will slot in your Ghana card and when you are that person, you will be granted access”, he said.
This home-grown technology is a collaboration between the government of Ghana, through the Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Aviation Authority, Ghana Airport Company Limited, and Margins Group.
