The African University College of Communications (AUCC) has officially attained Presidential assent, transforming into the African University of Communications and Business (AUCB) as of December 19, 2024.
This major change symbolizes AUCB’s transition to a fully autonomous university, a culmination of years spent enhancing academic excellence and fostering partnerships with notable institutions such as the University of Ghana and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
In a press release, AUCB’s management expressed deep gratitude for the invaluable mentorship received from various educational bodies, which played a crucial role in this achievement. President Isaac Abeku Blankson stressed that this new status supports the university’s mission to offer high-quality education and professional development in communication, media studies, and business within a Pan-African context.
Founded in 2002 by Hon. Kojo Yankah, AUCB began as the African Institute of Journalism and Communications. Over the years, it expanded its academic offerings, launching the Sam E. Jonah School of Business in 2010 to meet the growing demands of the business sector.
The university’s rebranding mirrors its vow to equip students with essential skills for today’s dynamic economic setting. As a chartered institution, AUCB aims to produce graduates who are well-prepared to tackle contemporary challenges in various fields.
Management has called upon stakeholders to celebrate this essential milestone while reinforcing their commitment to academic excellence and societal impact. The transition is expected to elevate AUCB’s reputation both nationally and internationally.
