The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) is set to host its 64th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The meeting, themed “Navigating the Uncertainties of Our Business Landscape to Sustain Productivity,” will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss practical strategies for addressing challenges and driving sustainable business growth in Ghana.
Complementing the AGM is the AGI/GEA-Mastercard BizBox Job Fair 2024, which will take place at the same venue from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This job fair serves as a vital bridge between job seekers and over 30 leading companies, offering positions in fields such as mechanical and electrical engineering, sales management, operations, and human resources.
It provides a rare opportunity for individuals to explore career paths while enabling businesses to strengthen their teams with skilled talent.
The AGM will also feature keynote addresses from high-profile figures, including Ms. Julie Essiam, Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and Dr. Afua Asabea Asare, CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority. Their contributions will provide critical insights into economic policies and export strategies, equipping participants with actionable knowledge to sustain productivity amid global uncertainties.
These dual events highlight AGI’s enduring mission to build a resilient and vibrant business environment in Ghana.
Since its establishment in 1957, AGI has remained steadfast in its commitment to advancing Ghana’s industries. What began as the Federation of Ghana Industries—founded to support local manufacturers in the post-independence era—evolved into the Ghana Manufacturers’ Association in 1961, broadening its scope to include state-owned and foreign industries.
By 1984, the association had transformed into the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), reflecting its expanded focus on service industries and sectors that underpin manufacturing.
Today, AGI represents over 1,200 businesses across sectors such as agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and construction. The organization champions industrial growth, supports business development, and promotes trade and investment opportunities, firmly positioning itself as a cornerstone of Ghana’s economic progress.
This year’s meeting, paired with the BizBox Job Fair, promises to renew AGI’s legacy of leadership, collaboration, and progress for the benefit of Ghana’s industries and economy.
