AfriMass Network will host the Afrika Radio Business Mixer on Feb. 13, 2026, as broadcasters across the continent weigh how artificial intelligence can reshape radio’s business model without eroding trust or editorial standards.
The event, timed to mark UNESCO’s World Radio Day, will bring together radio executives, media entrepreneurs, advertisers, technology firms and regulators to examine how AI tools are changing content production, audience engagement and revenue generation in one of Africa’s most resilient media sectors. Radio remains the most accessible mass medium across much of the continent, serving as a primary source of news, education and community connection for millions.
This year’s World Radio Day theme, “Radio and Artificial Intelligence,” reflects growing interest in how emerging technologies can improve efficiency and profitability. AI is increasingly being deployed for content automation, audio editing, translation, news summarisation and audience analytics, opening new opportunities for personalisation and advertising-driven revenues.
Organisers say the mixer will also address risks that could undermine long-term sustainability, including data privacy, intellectual property protection, algorithmic bias and the preservation of journalistic integrity. Discussions will focus on how radio businesses can adopt AI while maintaining public trust and regulatory compliance.
“As digital disruption accelerates, the future of radio in Africa must be built on resilient business models that balance innovation with trust, ethics, and sustainability,” the organisers said.
The programme will feature thought-leadership sessions and networking aimed at helping broadcasters adapt to shifting audience behaviour and advertiser expectations, while developing commercially viable strategies for an AI-driven media environment.
AfriMass Network, a pan-African media and business platform, said the initiative forms part of its broader push to support innovation, capacity building and sustainable growth across Africa’s media, marketing and creative industries.
