The African Export-Import Bank has signed a hosting agreement with the Government of St Kitts and Nevis for the fifth edition of the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2026), scheduled for July 29 to 31, 2026.
The event will be held in Basseterre and is expected to convene government officials, investors, private sector leaders and development finance institutions from across Africa and the Caribbean.
According to Afreximbank, the agreement reflects a joint commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties between the two regions, as well as advancing broader economic cooperation under the “Global Africa” agenda.
Dr George Elombi said the forum will focus on identifying priority projects and programmes aimed at accelerating economic development and deepening cross-regional partnerships.
Officials in St Kitts and Nevis have also described the hosting of the forum as a strategic opportunity to position the country as a hub for investment and enterprise within the Caribbean. Dr Terrance Drew noted that the event is expected to create new pathways for trade and business collaboration between Africa and the Caribbean.
ACTIF has grown into a key platform for mobilising capital and facilitating partnerships across both regions. The 2025 edition recorded deals valued at approximately US$291.25 million across sectors including trade finance, corporate finance and export development.
The upcoming forum is expected to feature panel discussions, investment showcases and networking sessions aimed at promoting economic integration and expanding trade flows.
Afreximbank’s activities in the Caribbean have expanded in recent years. Since establishing a regional office in Barbados, the bank has approved over US$700 million in financing across the CARICOM region, supporting projects in tourism, infrastructure, small business development and climate adaptation.
ACTIF2026 is expected to build on this momentum, providing a platform for stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties between Africa and the Caribbean.
