Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has filed fresh defamation suits against the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, following developments in his earlier legal actions against the two.
In a press statement issued by his lawyers, Dehyena Chambers, the legal team said a fresh writ had been filed at the Accra High Court against Mr Adjei on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after the Minority Leader discontinued his earlier suit against the NEIP chief at the Achimota Circuit Court.
The new action, numbered GJ/0061/2027, concerns alleged defamatory statements made by Mr Adjei on Peace FM.
The lawyers also confirmed the filing of another writ against Mr Gyamfi at the Accra High Court on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The action, numbered GJ/0045/2027, follows the High Court’s decision to set aside an earlier defamation suit brought against the GoldBod chief executive.
According to the statement, the new suit concerns statements allegedly made by Mr Gyamfi during the Government Accountability Series and on Joy FM’s *Newsfile* programme.
The fresh filings follow a ruling by the Accra High Court on October 14, 2026, which set aside Mr Afenyo-Markin’s earlier defamation action against Mr Gyamfi after finding that the writ of summons did not contain sufficient particulars identifying the allegedly defamatory publication, as required under the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2004 (C.I. 47). The court made no order as to costs.
The ruling concerned the procedural validity of the writ and did not determine whether the statements complained of were defamatory.
In their statement, the Minority Leader’s lawyers said they disagreed with the High Court’s earlier decision to set aside the previous writ but had issued the fresh process in accordance with what they described as the court’s latest interpretation of the rules.
The lawyers concluded the statement by declaring: “The Mills of Justice Grind Slowly but with Great SURETY.”
