The AfCFTA Secretariat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Bar Association (USA) to support legal capacity building, assist SMEs and youth, and enhance diaspora engagement across Africa.
The agreement will make use of existing tools, including PAPSS (Pan-African Payment and Settlement System) and the Protocols on Women and Youth in Trade, to improve cross-border transactions and create a more inclusive trading environment. Officials say the partnership will contribute to a self-reliant Africa by providing clearer legal frameworks and supporting economic opportunities for diverse groups.

The collaboration is a practical step toward sustainable and rules-based growth on the continent. The agreement is expected to enhance the legal expertise available to African businesses, particularly SMEs, and create more opportunities for youth and diaspora communities.
By fostering an environment that supports legal innovation and economic inclusivity, the MoU represents a promising stride towards integrating Africa more deeply into the global economy.
