Anthony Sarpong has extended a personal gesture of goodwill to support families in Zongo communities as Muslim communities across Ghana prepare for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
Mr. Sarpong, who serves as Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, donated 850 bags of rice along with quantities of cooking oil to Zongo caucus coordinators across the country to assist Muslim communities as they prepare to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation, made in his personal capacity, is intended to help ease preparations for families who will soon gather with relatives and neighbours to celebrate one of the most important festivals on the Islamic calendar.
Under the arrangement, each regional coordinator received 50 bags of rice and cooking oil, which will be distributed within their communities to support households ahead of the festivities.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Sarpong extended warm wishes to Muslims across the country and encouraged them to celebrate Eid in a spirit of peace, unity, and mutual respect.
He also reflected on the deeper meaning of the season, noting that the values at the heart of Ramadan and Eid, generosity, compassion, and solidarity, are principles that strengthen communities and bring people together.
Regional coordinators of the NDC Zongo Caucus who received the items expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that the support would go a long way in helping many families celebrate the festival with dignity.
